Writing a federal resume can be a lengthy process. Many times, in addition to the lengthy resume, you will be required to complete KSAs for a certain position on usajobs.gov. KSA stands for knowledge, skills, and abilities. KSAs are the essays that applicants submit highlighting their qualifications.
For many of us a short and sweet answer seems most appropriate, right?
Not the case with a federal job application. You'll want to target specific examples from past experiences that relate to the knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSAs) required to be successful in your desire position. Furthermore, you'll want to use as many examples as possible to prove your worth.
Rather than having me go through the process piece-by-piece, I would like to refer you to an excellent KSA writing guide published by the Partnership for Public Service: excellent guide for writing KSAs.
If you go through these steps, you'll be on your way to a government job in no time (give or take a few months!)
Good luck!
